Mark,
Not sure about this one, Scapin or Carnielli (who also made Bottecchia). This would be one of the last ones we painted. Here's a story. When Bob L screwed us, I ended up with some inventory instead of payment. I took a 6 of these frames to the San Diego Velodrome Swap meet. Brand new, I think I stared out asking $200 each for them. By the end of the day I was down to $50 and pretty frustrated. Could not even get offers for them. I really had had quite enough of Lemond and did not want to take them back to the shop. Near the end I stood on the table and announced to a considerable crowd that I'd accept any offers. Got NONE. I resisted the temptation to run them over with my van while leaving, but stopped on the way out and "unloaded" them by throwing them as far as I could into the canyon west of the velodrome. The swap buzzards nearly killed each other scrambling through the chaparral after them. In a less frustrated moment I might have donated them to a youth racing program, but at the time I could not stand the thought that Lemond would get credit for "his" generosity.
According the Maynard Hershon Greg fired his dad from his business operations shortly after the deal with us. Last I heard, maybe 4 years ago, they were still estranged.

I have a steel Columbus SL Lemond painted by your shop (as told to me by
Gary), that is white pearl. How can I determine who built it? I got it in
92, it was a leftover frame that I got from a bike shop, they did not know
if it was a 90 or 91. The details are very nice: fluted seat stay tops,
engraved with Greg Lemond, a semi sloping internal cast fork crown, fine
finish work inside the frame as well as lug filing. One cool feature is that
the holes in the seat tube and head tube, where the top tube is brazed, have
beautiful oblong holes in them, instead of round. Of course you can only see
this with the seat post out and the fork off, but I like that kind of stuff.
