Watch out for the pre-mixed shellacs - if they've been sitting too long they will not fully cure. There should be a pull date on the can but all of them that I've seen are encoded - I've got no idea what date they're indicating. This is probably getting a bit off topic (how many classic lightweight bikes had shellacked bars?) but I'll put in a plug anyway:
I've used Patrick's (he's the owner of the business) shellac on handlebars and woodworking projects - good stuff. Disclaimer - Though I've never met him in person I've known Paddy for some time via a shared interest in woodworking tools and I acted as a tester for the shellac that he's importing. I don't make a cent off of it, though.
