Subject: [CR]re: classic mexican bikes

Hi all,

While we're on the subject of Mexican-made bikes, does anyone know how to spot the difference between the Italian, & Mexican Benottos? I'm wondering about the higher end models, not the "gaspipe" specials. I have one needing paint & decals (completely stripped by previous owner), that really looks to have been nicely brazed, and apparently made from quality butted tubing. The required seat post size is 27.2, with 120mm rear spacing, but under bb shell cable guides (tubes), and Benotto drop outs. It also has the heart cut out on the shell, and Benotto cast into the fork crown, and on the seat stay caps. This frameset had no chrome. The only ID # stamped on it is "240 cm", stamped under the bb shell. Any Benotto experts out there? Thanks,
