hmmm. given the pretty great stability of appearance of these hubs, the opportunities for mischief would seem to be pretty small. Like claiming a date that in not supported for a Hi-Lo hub or some obscure drilling. For run-of-the-mill stuff (standard 36 and32 hole hubs), I'm not gonna worry too much that someone cheated me by changing locknuts to get a different date for some nefarious purpose. I'm sure that someone out there is changing lock nuts - like to convert a 120 to a 126, or something like that. I don't mind being taken, but I'm not the purest of the pure!

just my thoughts
