I live in Phoenix. I bike to my job as an art teacher at a local high school. I have the following bikes: A turn of the century Fowler, interesting because it has a split seat tube, a 54 Wastyn-built Paramount Tourist, a mid fifties to early sixties(?) Rudge Clubman, with Simplex TDF rear and suicide front derailleurs, a 63 chrome Allegro, and a Masi. I'm currently working on a Hercules Tour de France Equipe.

Two bikes that I have questions about are a campy-equipped Jeff Lyndsay road bike out of Chico, Ca. I believe he was the builder of Mt. Goats. The frame is too small for me, I got it cheap for the Campy parts. Any value of this as a built up bike? Okay to part it out. Any interest in the frame? 21.5" Secondly, a '73 Paramount Tandem. All the Tandems or pictures that I have seen have curved seat tubes. This has a straight seat tube. I found it with TA cranks, Shimano cantis. Suntour bar ends. Was there a straight seat tube version? I'm confused.

And finally a newcomer's observation. I really enjoyed the discussion about the Herse. The stories of the original owner, etc. were great. I liked the first hand comments about the seller. Good stuff to know, I can take the info or leave it. It's good to be educated. But the fuzzy logic, he said, she said drama almost caused me to bail. My only comment about that is that some of you guys have businesses. It seems to me as a customer that that kind of discussion isn't exactly going to propel me to drop big bucks for your parts/services. I think it is important to rise above the conflict. Either do that or do like the two girls did after school in the park today, beat the heck out of each other. And when one girl got the upper hand, one of my students, three of the other girl's friends jumped in and beat the heck out of her. Fortunately, I was leaving campus when it happened and I had to break it up. My bike shorts were a source of much amusement to the local throng. But my helmet took two good shots and nobody stole my bike. Art "I even wear a helmet when I'm teaching" Smith
