I want to clarify that I don't begrudge Peter his $510 and if he wanted to take a trip to Vegas, more power to him. The item was fairly described and had excellent pictures, which is exactly what we'd all expect from Peter. I just think there are countless classic bike items which would have been a better bargain than paying $510 for that derailleur, nice as it is. I note that it wasn't some naive neophyte who paid this price, but none other than the dreaded kauzo, who has long struck fear into the hearts of those trying to purchase French components at a price they could afford (and of course struck joy into the hearts of the sellers). Now that kauzo seems to have diversified into Italian components, nearly no corner of the classic bike world is safe, but those who have been waiting for their stashes of classic stuff to reach their "real value" will be laughing all the way to the bank. I believe Takao informed us some time ago that "kauzo" is the eBay handle for one Amaki-san, a dentist. Guess I should have attended dentistry school rather than studying engineering.
