Just a note of caution re this particular excursion with "unobtanium:"

At an equivalent diameter, Ti will not be as resistant to bending as steel (as I recall it). To the extent that the 126 mm record hubs were considered to suffer more bent axles than the 120s, those of us who are past our prime weight might not want to bounce too exuberantly on these. Perhaps best considered as eye candy... Of course, for that application a bent Ti axle might be neat in the display case, with an elastic yarn to accompany it.
