I believe Trek had licensed the Matrix name for a line of their products, and also believe that was why Columbus had to change the name to Cromor. Cromor was below SL in the line, but I can't remember if there was something else between the two.

Matrix was the 1st name given to that tubeset, which we now know as Cromor. If I remember correctly, Columbus was infringing upon a someone's tradename by using the name Matrix. Columbus renamed it Cromor because of litigation, or the threat of litigation. I think some of our framebuilders on the list could expand on this.
