Subject: [CR]Mathauser pads for Campy NR/SR brakes

I've got a '76 Marinoni I'm fixing up and the stock brake pads are pretty shot. I've got a few extra pairs of Record brakes, one of them looks to be of identical vintage and it's got a set of lightly used Mathauser pads in the Campy holders.

So I'm thinking of using these Mathauser pads on the bike, and while purity is not a huge issue (the bike is FAR from a show bike), I was wondering when these solid Mathauser refills for Campy holders first started showing up?

Other questions include:

Who has the proper stock original black blocks (if I want to make it look more correct)?

Not having used these blocks before, how much better might they be at stopping the bike than the original compound Campy blocks? I understand they're better in the rain, but this bike will unlikely see the rain again.

Similarly I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the ones that Sheldon lists: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/brakeshoes.html#campagnolo for my '93 Chorus monoplaner brakes on the one bike I actually 'race' on. I've always found the brakes on that bike a bit lacking. Anyone tried them?

Are they any harder on rims?

Thanks for any input.
