My current Time pedals thread into my one set of NR cranks by hand, all the way to the seat. Cranks are from an '81 bike. I think the date stamp is '79. I can't imagine that there is any undue stress on the threads from any mismatch. I didn't buy the cranks new, so it's always possible someone chased the threads, but the bike had the original NR pedals installed when I got them.
