Subject: [CR]Campy Axle interchangeability

I have suddenly been stricken with a burning need to increase the number of high flange hubsets on my fleet. Two hubsets have been acquired, one built up and one waiting an answer to a parts question.

The hubs in question are Campy record high flange with oil covers etc. The rear is five speed (120mm lock nut distance), but the Raliegh Pro it's destined for is six (126mm). I have a surplus set of six speed low flange hubs, although they are considerably newer than the high flange ( 10 years by my estimate).

Can I cannibalize the low flange axle set and convert the high flange to six speed? Any potential problems to beware of? The six speed axle appears to be in fine shape, with no pits on the cones and even wear marks.

Or should I attempt to secure a NOS six speed axle and/or cones to rebuild the rear?

What were the original rims on a '72 Raleigh Pro?

Thanks all.
