Talbot's in San Mateo was the first. I think it had something to do with the fact that the shops' Steve Aldredge, a team mechanic with international/pro experience, knew the 'right' people during the early years of the bike boom. there is a famous picture of Ugo and Eddy, with Steve off to one side...
