I can almost guarenty it is not the crank arms. 99% off the time it is the BB in the frame, or in this case most likly the BB cups on the BB. I would remove the BB and the cups from the BB and reinstall with liberal use of grease. Especially on the cup/BB conections. As far as torque, you should not be able to over tighten if you are useing your peanut butter wrench.... Hope this helps, Garry Nold lksbks@ix.netcom.com
