Some early track hubs were designed without dust caps at all. Also, have a look in your seatpost...my CCM's from the period have cork down there as well.

I unpacked my 30s track bike and came across some things I wanted to see if anyone knew about or had seen before. Someone drilled holes along the bottom edge of the leather and then laced the underside of the saddle like a shoe.

The Handlebars are plugged with cork. The dust caps have been removed from the hubs. The bike is a track bike but has wing nuts on the front wheel. I

am 4 hours into cleaning it and just getting started. Sam D.
