Dear Chuck:
In reply to your recent inquiry, I suggest that you have the frame
phosphate dipped. This might bring out the heat zones on the tubing, like a
rainbow effect. Jim Merz did this to his frames and that's how I learned
about it. It stops any rusting and keeps it clean for a few years, according
to Jim. Anyway, after that, the clear coat should hold and even if it chips,
it shouldn't rust. I would check around with a local builder or Jim
Cunningham at Cycle Art might be able to do it.
