In an earlier post I mentioned that (at the time the Confente was at $6,000) if I paid so much for a bike that it kept me from riding said bike I probably couldn't have afforded the bike in the first place. Bicycles were built for riding and ride them is what I will do if I become the owner.
My Rauler is one of 500 made. Now that isn't quite as limited number as the Confente, but none the less it is pretty much irreplaceable. Now I will say that I wont ride the bike in the rain, but I have been caught in the rain while riding it. This bike gives me more pleasure riding it than it does looking at.
With that said I do understand why some people won't ride collectables. That is their choice and so be it. I just wish they would let me take their bike out for a spin just to make sure it is still in working order.
