Subject: [CR]KRYPTONITE LOCK WON'T OPEN

Forgive me for not being entirely in keeping with the classical theme here but its better to canvass as many experts as possible in the hope that one will be able to provide a solution to a problem. With this in mind, I've also posted this message on the internet bob list.

I've used a Kryptonite Evolution 2000 Mini lock as recommended by Sheldon Brown http://www.sheldonbrown.com/lock-strategy.html for almost a year now, and it has proved very practical as well as giving me good peace of mind. However, and I'm sure that this is just a freak incident, today I'm unable to re-open it - and unfortunately it is locked firm around my front wheel and frame. I have tried saturating the lock with penetration oil, but the problem seems to stem from just one thing. The circular key fits an peripheral alignment slot however, on my lock the alignment slot is stuck at 1.00 o'clock. I've tried budging it with a flat screwdriver but I simply cannot get my key back into the lock. Has anyone got any experience of this please? And if the worst comes to the worst, does anyone know what the best strategy for cutting such a lock (using a grinder?) is? I'll just assume that they've acquired this knowledge by honest means.

Much thanks,

Mark, Stockton on Tees, UK
