Peter,
From looking at this view of the bike, the photo seems to show eyelets (bag loops) inserted through the leather saddle top. It is my understanding that pre-WWII Brooks had these kinds of eyelets and post-WWII Brooks saddles had the more familiar bags loops that are integral with the cantel or heel plate of the saddle frame.
The saddle also appears to have the pre-1955 oval-style logo/trademark stamped on the flaps.
While this saddle might not be original to the bike, it is, in my opinion, appropriate for a 1936 era bike.
