Hi all:

I wanted to make sure you all knew the latest turn of events as the plans for Cirque 2002 (!) are evolving. This next event promises to be even more international as I receive news of attendees from France, UK, Canada and across the USA.

As hinted at earlier, the official theme will be "Vintage British Bicycles" and will begin a tradition of yearly themes. This will most heavily affect the seminar program, up to this point with two UK folk of stature within our hobby/sport scheduled to attend and being "in negotiation" with another famous author/speaker. When final plans are set, I will more formally announce these personages

For 2002, we will follow the format tested for this past Cirque, having informal rides and gatherings along with the Seminars on Saturday. Unfortunately, I have filled our previous "meeting hall" with bike trade fixtures and inventory (http://www.cyclesdeoro.com/CDO_Mill_St.htm) so a new place to host the seminars will have to be found!

On Sunday the classic bike show event will feature a more refined display system, breaking down bicycles by marque and supplying more specific information on each bike.

Ideas for all this are welcome and I look forward to enlisting (again) help from lieutenants, many of whom are CR charter members.

Also newsworthy is that there is discussion of sponsorship/promotional involvement by some top cycling press and this should help grow the event even more (Yikes!)

Finally, there is the difficult issue of the DATE this event will take place on.. Right now it is penciled in on May 4 & 5, 2002. There inevitably will be conflicts but we aim to please as many folks as possible. There are rides, races, etc., every weekend of the year and only one Cirque, so in some ways we must focus on this annual opportunity ... Now is the time to let me know of potential conflicts so I can flip the coin!

Thanks
