I've got four pairs, a 20-year-old set of Bluemel's Populars (black) and three Club Specials nearly as old (white), and they're all in fine shape. Likewise my brother's 20-yr-old pair of Bluemel's (black). I believe they used different plastics for different models, though (?? -- memory banks failing ...)

The problem I've had is that the plastic in the Bluemels tends to get
brittle in old age (sounds like us!) and breaks after a few years.
It might be UV exposure or something in the plastic, so be careful
with those.
