Last ride I took with my old high school teacher / mentor in Stockton CA featured this scene...

Our party of four riders entering Linden CA, and unbeknownst to us, sharing part of the route of the Lodi Bicycle Club's weekend century ride.. The Lodians think that we're on their ride.. They pass us in pacelines of Treks, Cannondales, Lightspeeds, etc... And look (trying to stay cool) over at us to see:

1) Mid-70's Red Jack Taylor with Osgear and modern time trialing gear (Dave's still timetrialling in his mid-60's) 2) Screaming Yellow Jack Taylor Curved Tube, brazed up late '90's, built up by Rickson (noted industrial designer) as a single speed w/ Campy C-record crank, etc... 3) My latest.. a Jack Taylor "5 bar gate" frame (aka flying gate) with Osgear (built 1999 or 2000 forget now) with aero rims and Scott DH bars... followed by: 4) Cham's Trek ultralight Lance Armstrong clone frame..

Made them think that the JT's were leading the Trek (well, we will let them think that..)

When we turned right to check out the fresh cherry pie at the Linden cherry festival half the Lodi "peleton" followed us.. we had to point out the right route for them and remind them that they had Powerbars to consume...

Definitely looking like a freak,

Dennis Johnson Visalia CA...(gonna work on my new Peugeot PSV-10 tomorrow.. cleaning cleaning cleaning)
