My Schwinn "Voyageur 11.8" was bought in 1980 (I think ...) and had a six-speed freewheel, Shimano "Altus" group, Araya rims, SR bars-stem-post, KKT pedals, Sugino Super Maxy crank. Tubes were 4130 chro-mo, top & bottom double-butted. No knowledge of tube supplier, but I was told at the time that Bridgestone built it. It's just a hair too big for my tastes, but I still ride it now and again. It was my first "good" bike. Today it's got a 105 triple crank & bb & front der, Deore rear, Phil/Matrix wheels, Campy GS brakes w/DA levers & Kool-Stop Salmons, Brooks Pro, Bluemel's Populars -- a mutt, but it looks nice. I still have all the original parts, but many are on other bikes. They came in black, red, or chrome (mine's black).
