Sounds like they could have done that in house then, but of course a special request from a company like Schwinn might have been honored.

I was referring to early versions which were reported to break near the mounting bolt as opposed to later versions which apparently had more metal in that area to prevent breakage. I believe this was touched on recently but I didn't save any of the posts or pictures.
