Subject: [CR]Masi questions

Hello all:

I have a Masi question for you gurus. I have my eye on a Masi GC at the LBS. Looks very similar to the one in Breaking Away, except for the color. It's all NR, the color is kind of champagne-ish, and the rear derailleur has a date of '72. The bike shop manager thinks it is one of the ones made in California, and the derailleur date is a bit early. It's got Fiamme Ergal rims, and a very cool matching color silca pump. What are the identifying characteristics of the Italy vs. California ones, and which is more desirable? This is a very sweet bike, and I think it's a very good price. What are people paying for vintage Masis these days? I am thinking about freeing myself of my Raleigh Pro to get this one.

Thanks,

Andy Grout
