Well, Chuck, "factual information" may be a bit hard to come by. It seems clear we have at least two different concerns producing Hetchins-badged frames, and I'm sure the "facts" according to each is that he is authorized to use the Hetchins name. David Miller, at least, has consistently and publicly claimed to be the exclusively authorized supplier of Hetchins in UK, so the "facts" according to the various parties appear to be in conflict. I suspect only a court of law in the UK or US can eventually determine whose facts are the correct ones, which is, of course, what courts of law are for. Meantime, I think it is perfectly valid to discuss the admittedly incomplete information about the matter, as no one wants to buy what may later be determined to be a fake. If your point is that we should not accuse people of fraud without proof, I agree. In that regard, I should clarify my suggestion that David Miller file a complaint with the Customs Service or US Attorney. I am not prejudging that such a complaint is valid, and as I suggested, such a complaint would have to include documentation of his claims to exclusive rights. As Miller's claims to exclusive rights seem to have gone unchallenged for several years, I think the burden of proof will fall on the competing Hetchins producers. Nonetheless, I continue to find it very difficult to believe that Ron Cooper, if he is indeed the producer of the competing Hetchins, would knowingly participate in copyright infringement.
Regards,
Jerry Moos
