My experience with French bikes of that era strongly suggests measuring the
diameter of the quill of the Death Stem... Generally 21.9 mm, instead of
the more common 22.2.
A friend offered me a really beautiful short TTT for Beloved Spouse's road bike, but I just couldn't figur out how to cut off that 0.3 mm w/o some very fancy lathe jigging. Not having the lathe, I certainly didn't had the jig. C'est la guerre, he said, exhausting his french...
