I guess one can conclude that Ti has had its share of success - a world championship for Lance, and used in some stages of TdF victories by Lance and Greg Lemond, as well as by Virenque in a couple of TdF KoM victories. And of course Ocana on the orange-painted, Motobecane-logoed Speedwells. Of course, the Ocana example is not an altogether happy one as (according to Merckx's book) Ocana was riding a titanium frame when he suffered that horrendous TdF crash while chasing Merckx downhill in a rainstorm. However, I assume that Ocana also used the Speedwells when he later returned to win the TdF. Anyone know for sure?

Still, considering that titanium bikes have been available to the peleton for over 25 years, they haven't exactly dominated the highest levels of the sport.
