OK, I now see that, as I suspected, the snipets on the Decal subject were castins for the decal consortioum. It was just a week ago that I 'paged' anyone knowing the whereabouts of Brian of Fresh Frame. The reason being that I heard they were sitting a bit low and might be just doing small scale private refinishing. That's fine, I have used many painters for the 'standard' work around here for years since Fresh Frame got real backed up and busy with exotic resto's and specialty work.

I just wanted to check the status of my large collection of decals (40 years' worth) that they are holding for me.

I trusted Brian and still do with these. I let him have them for copying and occasional use.

I don't believe that it will turn out like the frustrating and disappointing sale of my years of prints for my high school yearbook. I shot, processed, and printed hundreds of candids for that publication in the late 60's. They published them, and during the last week of school spread them out on a table in the journalism room and offered them for 10 cents to a quarter, depending upon size. I paid for most of the materials and did it all on my own time (I was not even taking the class)

The deal with Brian was to get some in-kind consideration and credit as well as copies of some of the ones I 'donated'

Good luck with the project. I like the idea but have always had some mixed feelings about restoration (an art, industry, and passion of its own) Originality, reproduction, and originality. The pushbutton ease that decal reproduction offers will make some aspects easier and take some of the mystique out of other areas. The arguments and debates will continue forever. That bonfire is another topicality with a passion of its own.
