The inflation chuck had a flexible hose about 4" long, which threaded onto the presta valve stem.

The original version of the tension disc suffered from regular breakage of the bolts that fix the tension discs to the rim. Sugino made a retrofit kit with larger diameter bolts. Retrofitted Tension discs are easily identifiable by the silver (instead of black) anchor nuts. Here in New Zealand, tension discs were reasonably popular for a couple of years, predominately amongst triathletes & duathletes. I have seen a photo of Martin Vinnicombe using one on the track in Australia in the mid '90s. I have one, built onto a Sugino tension disc track hub and a Mavic Gel280 rim. It doesn't stay true for long, though maybe a heavier, stiffer rim would improve matters. DB
