David:]

I recognize the name Micro Format International (I think!) as a supplier to the hobbyist model builders. These folks specialize in making it possible to put anything (including a micro-sized reproduction of a P-51 cockpit dash) into a water-slide decal. I'd assume that once it was clear coated it would be as durable as any, barring an interaction (solvent) between the inkjet ink and the clearcoat.

Thought all this was pretty safe until I started to clearcoat a SuperVitus fork decal with Sally Hansen "Hard as Nails" clearcoat... 20 year old ink just started to smear... (Warning: select small well-hidden section of fabric [decal..paint..saddle] to use as a test for "colorfastness")... how many times have I read and ignored this?

I'm going to call my scale-model crazy brother in law and ask him about the product!
