I'm in the same position as you and haven't done anything about appraisals. I have at least one shop I think I can go to. I'm thinking however of contacting some local framebuilders and see if they'd do appraisels. The estimated replacement cost of a 531 frame might be higher than most bike shops would value the whole bike.
