Sounds like a great find!

To help date it have a look at the Vintage Trek web site: http://www.skipechert.com/vintage-trek.htm

I will have an 83 catalog up on the site in a week or so. Yours matches the '83 trek 520 fairly well. Trek mixed and matched the components a bit so the specs don't always match the bike as sold.
