I've taken a 5' to 6' length of one inch diameter wooden dowel and drilled two holes near the center so that it can be bolted horizontally (parallel to the garage ceiling and floor) to the two angle iron supports that suspend my garage door opener from the ceiling. I then drilled two smaller holes at either end of the dowel and inserted 2" lengths of 1/4" diameter dowels (these serve to keep wheels from slipping and falling off the edge of the one inch dowel).

This rig easily holds five wheels on either side of the garage door opener -- in a pinch it will hold six, for a total of 12 wheels suspended from the ceiling.

This way, I'm down to only three frames and two completed bikes being stored in the spousal unit's piano room!

Hope this helps.
