There are probably a couple of Italian rear axles that will fit, but generally speaking the Campy thread spec. is non-standard. You can't use any of the common Asian brands because they are true metric (10mm diameter with 1mm pitch [or 25.4 threads per inch]) while Campy is a strange hybrid (10mm by 26 threads per inch). Small difference, but incompatible. Why the wierd spec? I can only imagine that they started with "English" machine tools years ago, that could cut to any diameter, but that would only cut certain thread pitches.

The common choices for replacement are Campy and Wheels Manufacturing. The Wheels will be cheaper, but having never ridden on them, I can't say how they'll perform. One thing's for sure, Campy axles break really easily, and are now hard to find and expensive. Casette hubs are a huge improvemnet with respect to axle life.

1/4" just like nearly everything else.
