The Crescent brand was sold along with Monarch to a Swedish company by the Pope dominated manufacturing consortium after the bike market colapse at the turn of the century. I can't give you the exact year off hand, but I think it was roughly 1907.
I have one of these '97 No.9's. It wasn't their best bike but a high grade compared to the standard of the times. Like many of the better bikes of the late 90's it was made of over-sized thin walled tubing and is a bit more easily dented than standard frames. Neat lugs and fork crown. D-tube rear stays. The original had a rather over-engineered axle setting mechanism on the rear wheel.
But I'd like to know who still makes those 1 1/4 " wooden rims and singletube (tubular tires).
