Gilbert mentions Ross bikes ... there is a Ross "Signature" model here in town that may come on the market soon. I suspect it is from before 1985, so I hope I am safe in asking about it ...

It's marked "Allentown, PA" on the headtube. Burgundy with silver head tube, fairly neat looking brazing on the brake bridge, chain hanger on the inside right seatstay, under BB cable routing, two sets of bottle bosses with star reinforcements, Ishiwata triple butted chro-mo tubing, forged dropouts with integral derailleur ear ... components may not be stock - Shimano sidepulls (unknown model), damaged Shimano derailleurs, shaped dt shifters (similar in contour to later SunTours) on brazed-on bosses ...

Were these built in the U.S., or is this another example of the classic UJB - no slur intended, btw, as the nicer Japanese bikes have incredible workmanship ...

I'll admit, I'm curious. And if it comes on the market, I'll snap it up because it's my size and has the right kind of wheelbase for my tastes ....
