I have noticed on quite a few reproduction paint jobs that the painter uses fine line tape and sprays the pinstripes then clears over them. Looks great but nothing like the original bike. I want to make my old bike as original as possible I have a question regarding the use of modern materials (base coat clear coat) to get as close to OEM possible. I was thinking of painting the base and clear in the appropriate color (medium coat of clear). Then either Ting or color sand with 1000 wet dry the clear. At that point I was going to apply my decals and have the bike hand pinstriped as it was originally. My question is what will happen if I clear over the synthetic enamel used for the stripes? In my auto experience we don't clear over stripes they go over the clear. Sam DiBartolomeo
