I have a copy of a Barelli catalogue whose price list is dated July 1978. There was also a Barelli B28 pedal which had conventional sideplates - but I must admit I have never seen a pair. There were in any case two versions of the other pedals - a version using cartridge bearings that was introduced first - I am not sure when they were introduced and my catalogue copy makes no reference to the bearings and a cup and cone bearing version which came later. The problem with the early cartridge bearing ones were that the spindles broke - there was a sharp stress riser at the corner of the axle next to the inner race. This was not the case on the later cup & cone pedals which were apparently perfectly reliable. Barelli also listed T shirts, racing vests, caps and wheel covers in addition to the shoe plates and cone spanners. Also listed were a range of three frames - road, track and time trial all built from Reynolds 531 - curiously enough I saw one of these for sale today. They were all finished in a Barelli Champagne colour but are otherwise not especially distingushed. I do not know if they were made in their works near Cambridge or whether they were bought in.
