I'd look at two, at the Vittoria Rally and the Continental Giro, which sounds like the Conti you spotted. Also look into the Tufo line; they are available with black tread and are made by the old Barum company. David Feldman

I would like to get off the topic of "shameless profiteering on the list" and talk about tires. I gave up on tubulars years ago , I grew up on Del Mundos but as the amount of broken glass increased I started riding clinchers . Now that IM starting to get my vintage bikes back to their original condition, IM looking at tubulars again , and IM seeing all the colors of the rainbow , but not the classic fabric side walls with a black tread . I surfed the net yesterday and saw a Michelin with a "hand made cotton casing" for $20.00 and a Contintal for $30.00 . Is there a secret source for vintage tubulars?
