Subject: [CR]Opinions and forgiveness

I am one who is strongly inclined to come to the defense of Classic Rendezvous and Dale. I believe in this group and I believe in the celebration of older bicycles. That said, let me say that the original impulse to let Fred express his opinion was a good one. I disagreed with Fred, and that led me to my first, (and rather successful), sell off of old bike parts, here on this list. I had a phone conversation with a new member and correspondence with others, all from this morning's post. This list is not all about commercialism, in my considered opinion.

Sometimes, if someone like Fred makes an outrageous and unfair attack, it is best to counter his commentary with facts, and let the facts speak for themselves. It is so obvious that Dale is doing good work, that it is almost unnecessary to decimate the loyal opposition. I would like to say that Fred has indeed overstepped the bounds of good taste, but perhaps he is willing to be forgiven and join in with the friendship we share. Maybe we are strong enough to withstand an occasional ugly display and allow for the man to try again, but this time in a gentleman like fashion.

Fred, I believe you were sorely mistaken and vulgar, but I have been vulgar at times too. (Not in this group, thankfully) Garth Libre, Surfside Fl.
