Subject: [CR]Alan Carbon: borderline vintage

Hi Gang

Just found an Alan bonded carbon-tube, aluminum-lug bike in my size at my LBS. It's 6-speed dura ace, so I assume that'e early 80s, but being indexed it might be outside the zone for CR. Anyway I'd welcome any comments on these bikes: their rideability, collectability, dirability? Sure looks funky. Sorta like the early Specialized bobder carbon tube bikes only with clunkier lugs? Anybody seen one of these sell in the last couple years, and if so, for how much. The asking price of $1000 CDN ($650 US) seems awfully steep to me. Thoughts? (off list if it seems too recent to discuss here).
