Can't tell much, I have the 1981 Holdsworth Catalogue, Holds sold Alan frames in the UK, but only all aluminium ones in 1981. It looks like the carbon tubed ones were later. The 1981 frames were spaced for 6 speed, the "Competition" at £169.95 and the Super (and Pista track version)at £213 (came with Campy Super Rec headset and seatpin). These were expensive frames.
cf Holdsworth Professional £159 (came with Campy Record headset and seatpin), Pro SL £240 (came with Campy Super Rec headset and seatpin).
So it looks like yours is newer than 1981, and I'd have thought a top end frameset in its day. I hope that helps a bit.
