Gangmembers,
News Flash! Just the other day Mark Petry was asking about Dave Tesch and his work. Just so happens I just got an email from Dave (which doesn't happen very frequently) announcing he was relocating. He informed me that when he gets to his new location he is going to start building some frames again! Not full time, just as a sideline or for whatever reason. He has been working as a full time certified master mechanic for a Cadillac dealer but informs me that he will be restoring automibiles; specifically Alfa Romeo. He has also requested that I clear some time to paint his bikes. It will be interesting to see what sort of things he comes up with since his last stint building frames. A lot has changed since that time, but I suspect he will take up about where he left off which means lugged steel frames. I doubt if he has any interest in doing anything else.
I will try to get to the Tesch Story as a primer to the reappearance of Dave Tesch for those who know little or nothing about him. I hope his perspective has changed a bit because racers aren't buying bikes like he is likely to make these days. His scope was very narrow in the past; hopefully he will expand on that a bit to include what I would call "sport" riding. We'll see. Maybe I can get him to build me a prototype to see where he's at these days. I have three Tesch frames all of which are one-of-a-kind and somewhat off beat for Dave; perhaps a Tesch trike would be in order! (Yeah, right). I will encourage him to take a one at a time approach as opposed to anything production oriented as before; things can go out of whack under those conditions at times. This could be interesting. Hey Richie, did you ever think Dave would resurface as a framebuilder? I have to admit, I had my doubts up until about 6 months ago at which time I could hear in his voice he was actually serious. Believe it or not, I'm kind of anxious to see what he has on his mind this time.
