I am inclined to agree with John about the "real" value of certain items. Although, on the other hand, some will want that item badly enough to run the bids way up, they have, without a doubt paid too much. I am reminded of one of my early car buying experiences. I was 18 and for years I had wanted a '53 or '55 Studebaker coupe (5-passenger). When I had an opportunity to buy one for $150, I did so. The body was in great condition; the engine so tired that a VW could outrun it. My uncle (also a Stude fan) loked at the car then at the proud owner and said, "Well, they knew you were just off the farm, didn't they!". He was right but I still loved that car.
