Spacing for a five speed block would be more like 120 mm (actually 121 on the frame to allow a 120 mm hub to "drop out" readily). 126 mm is normal width (non-ultra) six spacing. Ultra sevens seem to need more like 128 mm. A 1971 vintage Paramount would probably be five speed rear and thus 120 mm nominal. However, many 120mm frames were cold set to 126mm to suit six speed blocks as they became the de facto standard.
