The brake cable clips (they came out in the early 1950s almost twenty years before the brakes) have never changed in form, only in the material they are made out of. Sometime after the 1970s they went from being made of chrome-plated steel to stainless steel. The only reliable way to identify which is which is to test with a magnet. The advantage is no rust (it never sleeps ya know...).
