I bought lots of bits and pieces from Mr. Reynolds in the early 1970s, and it was just a great experience. One would send an air letter with a request for quotes, and a reply would come as a typed letter. Only trouble was the time I asked for even-toothed TA rings for timing chain on the tandem. He sent 43s, which would not work with the particular bb spacing I had. He certainly took them back. In those days before common credit cards, I think I just sent US personal checks, and I probably still have a balance there ! I did have shoes from his shop: very unflashy, well-made, comfortable, and durable. Also available on order in very large sizes. I saw a couple of his bikes, but don't remember that they stuck out as anything other than well-crafted British, nicely finished. Ralph Galen (a dentist) visited him and reported that his teeth were in poor condition.

I still have some correspondence, I guess.
