I too worked in a bike shop during the plastic simplex era. When we took one off for replacement, we would burn them in ritual fashion. I don't know much about delrin, but it burned for hours and all that remained was metal and a puddle of black goop. Probably not a good idea in these more environmentally friendly and collectible times... Scott in globally warming MN
