Hi all, Well it's finally happened: I'm putting my baby up for sale. I bought the frame new in 1982 and then built up the bike in 1986. The bike has less than a 1000 miles on it and has spent most of its life with me just looking at it. It's that beautiful. As for the way it rides, well, it's classic Italian geometry, great up hills or in a sprint and wonderfully stable on descents due in part to the low bottom bracket height, I think. It breaks my heart to let it go but I need to make room. So here goes:
The frame measures 54 cm c-c, 55c-t with a 55 cm top tube. Columbus SL with a SP downtube. 39" wheelbase. Parts are Super Record reduced with 170mm crankarms 42/52. Slight rub on inside of right crank arm but nothing to worry about or even notice it is so faint. no strap rub marks on the outside and the cranks as do all of the parts, look like new. Wheels are NOS Mavic OR10's laced 3X with DT 15-17-15 spokes to a NOS Campagnolo 32 hole LF 6 speed hubset. Rims have never been glued and new D'Allesandro tubulars are placed onto them. Saddle is a NOS CInelli #3 with a little shopwear, Straps are NOS Alfredo Binda-yello. Clips are Alloy Campagnolo. All bearing surfaces have been repacked and the bike is ready to enjoy. Seat post is second generation Super Record with the long flutes and has no marks in the flute area. Bars are old logo Cinelli Mod. 66 with a slight insrtion scrape on the left crest-very small. Stem is a winged logo Cinelli 1/R 85mm. Bars are wrapped in new blue cotton tape. Freewheel is a NOS Regina Oro 6 speed 13-23 with a Regina Record drilled chain also NOS. Pump is a Silca with a metal Campagnolo head. Comes with original Bianchi Celeste waterbottle and a gold anodized cobra cage. Rear dropouts are drilled for the porta catena. Frame paint looks like new with only a few touched up spots. I will include a bottle of Bianchi touch-up paint. Shift levers are old knobbly Campagnolo and the brake lever hoods are fake Campy generics. The Columbus decal is perfectly intact on the downtube as are all of the decals. One Piaggio decal is missing a small corner but that is it. Oh, and the brake blocks are nearly new, still soft and pefect. I'm going toattach quite a few photos for those with the patience to wait for them to load. It's worth it. This bike is a rare beauty. I must be nuts to let her go.
I'd like $1800 but may consider offers. This bike was at Velo Rendezvous and I'd love to sell it to someone in Southern California but would pack it like Nitro glycerin were it to be mailed to anywhere else.
Thanks.
