Howdy,

I was just thinking, the classic era ended with Mavic SSC Group of 1986 or whenever it came out--you know the "starfish group." Even though it featured an index only derailleur, it was still a basic group, and all parts were rebuildable. No STI; just workmanlike racing stuff. ANd it looked nice, too. Comparable to the C-record, but different--because it's French!

And this was around the time the last of the pant'd parts came out. Of course, folks really didn't panto French stuff.

Your thoughts?

(And what was it's name, anyway? I've got one and am certain.)

P.S. Upon 4th and 5th view, I begin to see the appeal of that Stronglight crank.
